Philip Ideson is the Founder, Co-editor and Host of the Art of Procurement, a media network that delivers multi-channel learning and development programs to help procurement leaders increase the capabilities of their internal teams. He is also the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Palambridge, a virtual platform of procurement experts, technology and intelligence that provides a broad range of flexible and customized solutions.
Growing up, Phil’s heroes were entrepreneurs, but he always considered himself too risk averse to be one of them. He took the ‘safe route’ and embarked on a traditional career path that included work at Accenture, Ally Financial Inc., Chiquita Brands International Corporation, Visteon, Pfizer, Ford and General Motors. In his first corporate role, Phil was rotated through the procurement department, where it was love at first sight. After that, Phil began a deliberate journey to experience every part of the procurement value chain – working across industries and geographies, in both direct and indirect procurement. He has worked as a practitioner, a service provider and an advisor/consultant…all with a view towards broadening his perspective and understanding the value that procurement can create.
As a corporate entrepreneur, Phil seeks to bring change and innovation to his categories, his organization and his clients. Today, he leverages that passion to democratize access to strategic procurement and enable companies of all sizes to harness the collective power of their supply base. Apparently, the safe route can lead to fairly unexpected places. Phil was proud to be named a 2017 Procurement Pro to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine in February 2017.
